This product enhances your internal SEO. There are several things that it does, but basically it is looking at phrases that you already rank for, and enhances those rankings where possible.

Whenever a user clicks through to your site from a search engine, usually it will be the case that the Http-Referer (sic) header will be set to indicate where the click came from. Usually, one of the query parameters will indicate the phrase that that user used to find the page of your site that they are visiting. What SEO Booster PRO does is to keep track of phrases that are used to access your site, check where your site ranks for them, and depending on how high or low your level of rank is for that keyword, the SEO may be boosted by adding an internal link to that page of your site. The anchor text for the link will be the same as that entered by the user to reach your site.

There are a couple of different ways in which the tool can be used. One is to place a widget into your sidebar with a heading of “Recent Searches” or something like that that SEO Booster PRO controls. Then the top ten (or however many you elect to use) searches that are in need of boosting appear in this widget.

The second way is that it can automatically add a tag to each post that could do with an enhancement in the ranking of its list. I’m not particularly keen on this approach because it does look spammy, but it works nonetheless.

It is a shame that one of the authors recently died, and the program went unavailable for a little while. Full credit to the person who runs it now; even though they could not find a record for my purchase which was made some time ago, they still provided a link to download the recent update for me. It is available for the ridiculous sum of €14.95. On the whole, it is an excellent plugin, and I heartily recommend it.

The button shows the page rank of the site. If you click on it, you get sections that list the following information for you:

• A wealth of external page data from Google; Bing; SeoMoz LinkScape; Quantcast; Alexa; Yahoo Site Explorer; any DMOZ directory entry that exists; Majestic SEO and SEMRush. This gives you an overview of backlinks and link quality, among other factors.
• Important on-page elements, including title; meta robots, keyword and description; internal and external follow and nofollow links; emphasised tags, including images, h1 to h5, bold/strong and italic/emphasis; and a list of the page headers.
• Social media exposure, including facebook; twitter; reddit; StumbleUpon; digg; delicious and Google Buzz.
• Links to various web tools, including a speed checker and Copyscape plagiarism checker.
• Server and DNS information.
• On-page SEO suggestions, colour-coded as green (good); yellow (OK); red (needs attention).
• A selector that allows you to highlight nofollow links.

It really gives you a mini-report on the web page that you have pointed at, and the best part is that it’s virtually instant. One click on a magnifying glass icon at the top of your browser window is enough to give you all the details you need.

It’s another of those awesome free tools that you really need to have in your arsenal. If you don’t use Chrome as a rule, I think it’s worth installing it and using it just for that.

PriMoThemes Quick Cache isn’t one of them. It requires that you do two things to get it working:

1. Download and install the plugin (at the time of writing, Quick Cache comes up first when you search for “cache” in the Plugins search box);
2. Go to Config Options under Quick Cache, select “On (Enabled)” under Caching Enabled, and save your changes at the bottom of the screen.

That’s it!

Now for my test results. I have been working with WP Super Cache in the main, but I did run into some space issues with it; also it is a little harder to set up than Quick Cache. Quick Cache has options that allow you to control its behaviour, but there are not many such options, so it’s ideal if you just want to drop something in for a quick speed boost. Also, Quick Cache does not need access to your .htaccess file, unless you want to enable compression.

During three tests, Pingdom Tools reported 2.7, 2.7 and 3.7 seconds to load the home page. (This is using shared hosting for these tests.) The last tests that I ran without a cache enabled reported 3.11, 3.24 and 3.07 seconds. So on the whole, it may be that the cache improves speed by about 10% on a shared hosting server. That’s a very worthwhile saving!

One of the down sides is that compression is not enabled out of the box, which can help with both speed and bandwidth costs. To get that working, you must edit your .htaccess file, if you have one.

Quick Cache also provides an info screen that provides comprehensive documentation for it and the box it is running on, so that should help you to diagnose problems.

Quick Cache will clean up your expired cache files at the end of the run.

The one thing you have to be aware of is that all cache plugins use disk space. If you are using shared hosting with a limited amount of storage space, be careful, as you may end up running out of disk space completely. This plugin is not the only one that will use up all your disk space if you let it! The same problem unfortunately applies to most backup plugins.

So, on the whole, it’s simple; practically a drop-in plugin. It’s also free, so try it! What have you got to lose?

You pretty much just have to install and activate this plugin. As standard, it will write a normal sitemap.xml file, and a gzipped (compressed) version which will normally be taken by the search engines which is given the name sitemap.xml.gz. The plugin will automatically notify Google, Bing and Ask about your new content whenever you add a new post, and it will also notify Yahoo! if you have an application ID which are available for free.

You can define additional pages to include in your sitemap, and you can specify broadly the factors involved in calculating the priority of each post.

In the event that the location of your sitemap on the file system is not properly detected, you can specify it manually, but I have never had any trouble with the plugin identifying the right location. However, this can be useful, especially if you are using a multi-blog system such as WP Hive.

You can indicate the content you want included in your sitemap; any categories, posts or pages that are to be excluded from the sitemap; the frequency the sitemap should indicate that each page should be polled; and the individual priorities of each type of page.

Personally, I would rather not fiddle too much behind the hood. You can change the settings as you wish, but unless you really know SEO well and know what you are trying to achieve, you probably won’t achieve anything useful. It is good to know that the ability to exclude pages and posts is present, especially if you intend to hide pages from the search engines. Otherwise this plugin pretty much falls naturally into the category of set-and-forget for me.

One aspect of SEO that you really need to pay attention to is your page load time, and this site will give it to you. It shows you exactly what URLs are being requested, when the requests come in, and when they get processed. The Dagon Design Sitemap Generator is free software and easy to set up and use. You can find it within WordPress itself if you search for Dagon, but at the time of writing, this was version 3.15, whereas version 3.17 is available direct from the author’s website. This review pertains to version 3.15.

The quick way to get it up and running is to install the plugin, create a new page called Sitemap (or whatever you like) and within the HTML editor, add the following text:

This will generate a page that is automatically updated whenever you add a new post or page to your site. If your blog has more than 50 pages or posts, it is likely that the plugin will generate multiple pages so as to keep the number of links served on an individual page reasonably low.

There are plenty of options for configuration of this plugin. Under Settings, the plugin installs a new option “DDSitemapGen”. This provides you with various options for fine control over the appearance of the sitemap. The defaults are very reasonable and it is unlikely that you will experience a significant SEO benefit from changing them.

Each page installs a link to the author’s website. There is no option to disable this, but if it really bothers you, you can look for the following line of code in sitemap-generator/sitemap-generator.php:

I tested that change on one of my blogs and it works fine.

So why is this good for SEO? Well, it simply provides an easy way for the search engines to find your content, and a good way to ensure that your link juice is passed around the pages and posts that make up your site relatively evenly. You would normally have a small link to the sitemap on every page and post of your blog, probably somewhere near the top of the page.

There are many sitemap plugins that exist for WordPress. Many of these are XML sitemap generators, used for submitting to Google Webmaster Tools. These are not human-readable sitemaps. Commonly you will want to install one of these too, but that will be the subject of another article.

Keyword Elite 2.0 Review

Ok so this review is about Keyword Elite 2.0, which was released at the end of August 2009. I tried out the software and the following is what I think of it. I have also used Keyword Elite 1.0 in the past, and for a very long time it was a very important tool in my day to day tasks.

It wasn’t just me either, Keyword Elite has long been one of the most popular products in the SEO marketplace.

One of the reasons for the success of Keyword Elite and for sure it’s popularity, is that it has been released by SEO Guru Brad Callen, who has been known as an expert in the industry for many many years.

One of the major competitors to Keyword Elite 2.0 is called Market Samurai which is also another software that we review on this site.

The first thing that you’ll notcie with Keyword Elite 2.0 is that the interface looks pretty easy to navigate, and there are a lot of options. It certainly looks at first glance to be much more complex then the original Keyword Elite, that’s good:

Keyword Surge:
There fancy name may indeed be matched by the complexity of this program, or at least the creative ways they go about keyword research. Any SEO will tell you that Keyword Research is by far the most important first step you take before launching a campaign.

You can generate lists up to 10k deep in keywords with this tool, creating seed lists that you can use for SEO or PPC. The way the keywords are presented to you can be filtered out in a matrix format depending on the exact credentials you are specifying. You can list them alphabetically, by volume, etc.

Pro: One of the great things about Keyword Surge is that is shows you very abstract related keywords to any phrase you put in, resulting in some interesting angles you definitely havn’t thought of yet. Some hidden gems to be found here for sure.

Keyword Elite 2.0, out of all the other keyword research modules I’ve tried on other products, wins hands down. They just go very deep and the AI is great in determining related keywords.

After filtering and refining your lists, you can then move them to another module with a simple right click and menu selection. One of the things I really appreciate about Keyword Elite 2.0 is that they really put a lot of time into the UI which makes it very comforting to use.

Market Research Module:
This is a very valuable PPC tool, which is found in some other major tools and sites as well. It spies on the big 3 search engine’s pay per click listings, for your given phrases, and reports back valuable competitor metrics.

You’ll be able to quickly determine how many advertisers are bidding on your keys, what they are pushing, their exact ad copy and their websites for further analysis – in a snap.

That’s not all, it’ll also dig even deeper and determine what competitors are paying, what they are paying in each spot, and estimated amount to take the #1 position on any given PPC keyword – that’s depth!

It’ll also determine the estimated amount of clicks you’ll get if you were #1 for the organic or for the paid listings. You can extract data from the 3 main search engines. There’s even more that I can’t keep listing here in this already super-long review. Now would be a good time to head over to Keyword Elite 2.0′s main website and hear things from the horse’s mouth itself.

Time Machine Module
This one is pretty straight-forward and we alluded to it in the introduction of this review. You’ll really find some gems using this tool as it’ looks back on adwords data from a specified date and you can see, little by little, the changes other advertisers have made on keywords you already know are profitable. You will literally see what works and what doesn’t work because you will see testing in the steps other people did it in! Folks, that is gold right there.

You’ll easily be able to determine with Keyword Elite 2.0:

- 6 months of date for any keyword

- Who bid on them and how much

- Other keywords they are also bidding on

- Much More

As an SEO for 9 years now, I can’t believe how much I’ve already covered in this review and I havn’t even gotten through all of the modules yet. I may even have to break this into two parts because it’s such a long post already. For a price tag like this, I can tell you that it’s worth it 100%.

Search Engine Dominator Module

I’m going to quickly go over some of the other modules you’ll find in Keyword Elite 2.0 because they are important and I want to get them in.

- This is what I would have called the long-tail keyword generator, as it uses data to find perfectly non-competitive long tail keywords for you to use to literally dominate the search engines.

- You enter either a list of keywords or manually type one in, or bring them in from another module from within Keyword Elite. Then it will give you insanely long tail keyword and buyer lists, presto. Nicely formulated and you can export it in an instant.

Conclusion:

I highly recommend you to buy this product even if you only own one website. We are all in this to make money presumably, and at $197 it’s priced to sell. Other similar products that I can think of run at the minimum $1000+ per year and that’s a recurring fee.

Custom software to do what this does would be in the six figures so don’t even think about it. That doesn’t even include the support.

At $197 I would pick this up in a heartbeat everytime. If you can’t make your money back with this tool, then you either didn’t use it enough or just arent’ fit or online marketing.
